Group Seminar 2022/23

Abstract: Quantum magnets represent one of the simplest of quantum many-body systems. Despite the simplicity, they host a rich variety of exotic phases and transitions, which are probed experimentally and closely compared with theory and calculations. In this talk, I will start with a brief introduction to the field of quantum magnetism and ‘spin liquids’, followed by my own experimental work on quasi-one-dimensional quantum magnets such as a spin ladder. The main result is concerned with demonstration of two contrasting behaviour of Tomonaga-Luttinger spin liquid states: attractive versus repulsive fermions.
