Condensed Matter Physics Group
Colloquially known as the Stoner Lab—in honour of the pioneering physicist E.C. Stoner, who once led the group—we are a vibrant and internationally recognised centre for research in condensed matter physics.
Our work focuses on electron and spin transport in materials and across interfaces, with particular expertise in spintronics, an emerging field that underpins next-generation computing and data technologies. We are proud to be acknowledged as a leading centre of excellence in this area.
The group comprises 7 academic staff, supported by a large team of postdoctoral researchers, technical experts, and graduate students. We maintain a wide range of state-of-the-art in-house facilities and make extensive use of world-class tools across the University and at national and international laboratories.
