How to Apply

If you are interested in studying for a PhD in our group then please first of all contact the supervisor to discuss any technical issues or have informal discussions about the content of the project. Dr Oscar Cespedes is the group representative on the School Postgraduate Studies Committee. Applications for study for a PhD at the University of Leeds can be made online.

Further details and useful contacts for applying for a PhD in Physics in Leeds can be found on our PhD Study pages.

Please email physics.pg.admissions@leeds.ac.uk or contact Ingrid Boyd, the School Postgraduate Admissions secretary, at 0113 3433839 to discuss any administrative issues. Candidates should have, or be expecting to attain, a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a related discipline. To qualify for home tuition fees you will need to be a citizen of the EU.

Overseas students (non-EU): At present our group has no means of providing funding for PhD studies for overseas students. If you do not have funds of your own, there are a small number of scholarships for which you could apply, which are, in general, extremely competitive. The University of Leeds maintains a search engine for such scholarships at scholarships.leeds.ac.uk.
